Thank you to all our clients and professional contacts who attended our recent golf day, which raised £6,754.76 for South West MS Centre. We have held an annual golf day in support of the Exeter-based charity for more than 15 years.
Around 100 people took part in the event, which took place at Teignmouth Golf Club. Twenty-two teams made up of our clients, staff and professional contacts competed for the winning place. Along the course, they also took part in a number of other fundraising activities. An auction, which included prizes ranging from a cookery course to a hotel stay, provided a further boost to the final total raised.
The Thomas Westcott golf day is a key fundraiser for South West MS Centre each year. With a mission of ‘enabling active lives’, the therapy centre provides a range of treatments, information and support for people with Multiple Sclerosis, their carers, and families in the South West. Based in Exeter, the charity offers therapies and treatments such as oxygen therapy, exercise classes, massage and counselling.
Steve Cresswell, Partner and Head of the Charities and Not for Profit team, said: “The South West MS Centre is a really important charity that supports people living with this debilitating condition. We are delighted to once again hand over a cheque to help the charity continue its excellent work, which assists so many people in our communities.
“Our annual golf day is a great way for us to introduce our clients and professional contacts to the work of the South West MS Centre, while also providing us with an opportunity to get together. I would like to thank everyone for their generosity in helping us to achieve such a great fundraising result, whether that was through taking part on the day or donating a prize for our auction.”
Duncan Sykes, Partner at Foot Anstey, was a member of the winning team. He said: “Foot Anstey has put forward a team for the Thomas Westcott golf days for many years and we are really proud to be a regular supporter of this fantastic annual event.
“This was once again a really well organised event with an impressive attendance from businesses across the South West. It was also great to learn more about the South West MS Centre and to support this very worthwhile charity.”
Caroline Winyard, Events and Fundraising Manager at the South West MS Centre, said: “We are a self-funded charity, we don’t receive any grants from the NHS or the Government, and we have to raise £175,000 each year to provide our therapies.
“The money raised will help fund several months of oxygen for our oxygen therapy, which is used to alleviate symptoms of MS and other health conditions.
“Donations like these are our lifeblood, and it was wonderful to see just how much money was raised at the Thomas Westcott Golf Day. It was really quite humbling and we are so grateful of the efforts of the Thomas Westcott team and all the players on the day.”
