As one of the largest independent accountancy practices in the South West, Thomas Westcott is on the look-out for trainees to join our growing business. We are looking to take on graduates who have the potential to be our future partners, and ultimately, leaders. We select the best candidates who demonstrate drive, ambition and individuality, and we offer support and mentoring throughout training and beyond.
If you have completed, or are about to complete your university degree, and you are looking at this website, you have probably already decided accountancy is for you. At Thomas Westcott we have the perfect working environment for everyone, with offices near the seaside, in the country or in the city.
Training to become a Chartered Accountant is both rewarding and challenging. It can also open up a whole host of different opportunities for you, now and in the future. In fact, many of our current senior managers and partners began their careers with us as trainees, and have not looked back.
How does it work?
Graduate trainees join us in September to embark on a three-year apprenticeship programme. Training takes place at Reed Business School, in a stunning location in the heart of the Cotswolds, in the form of residential courses, allowing trainees to focus on studying, preparing and passing exams, as well as socialising with people on the same course. We completely fund the training and also provide paid study leave for our trainees to attend these courses.
For the rest of the time, you will based in one of our offices in the South West, working on client assignments from the start, supported by our experienced staff and partners. You will have the opportunity to complete individual and team projects and carry out client work, such as preparing financial statements, auditing financial statements and tax compliance.
What do we expect from you?
Our trainees need to be hard working, ambitious and dedicated to becoming an accountant with Thomas Westcott. Common sense, technical skills, and an analytical and methodical approach are all a must.
Trainees should have achieved, or be expected to achieve, a minimum of a 2:1 degree in a relevant discipline, alongside three A-Levels (minimum of one A and two Bs) or equivalent.
How to apply
If you are interested in becoming a trainee Chartered Accountant with us, then the first step is to complete our application form.
This will give you the opportunity to tell us why you would be perfect for Thomas Westcott as well letting us know about your work experience, skills and academic achievements.
Successful applicants will be invited to an assessment day on 13th December 2019, which will include a series of group and individual tasks. A selection of successful candidates will then be chosen to attend a competency-based interview.
So, if this looks like the perfect opportunity for you, don’t hesitate to apply. Thomas Westcott has the largest network of accountancy offices in the South West, with 28 partners and more than 250 staff operating from 17 offices.
Come and work with one of the top accountancy practices in the region, learning and benefiting from our expertise and experience.
