We are celebrating after retaining our Investors in People accreditation for 25 years. We are delighted to have been awarded Silver following the latest review carried out by the national accreditor.

Investors in People (IIP) sets the standard for people management, awarding employers for excellence in leading and supporting their staff. The firm first achieved IIP accreditation in 1996 and we have now retained our Silver status, which we were first awarded in 2017.

The latest IIP review puts Thomas Westcott in the top third of accredited firms in the accountancy and finance sector in the UK, only narrowly missing out on achieving a Gold level award.

Companies are awarded IIP accreditation based on independent research across a range of areas. This includes IIP carrying out a staff survey and conducting in-depth interviews with randomly selected employees. The assessors also make site visits and review the company’s policies and procedures.

The IIP report praises Thomas Westcott for “looking after staff personally and professionally” across its large network of offices and making improvements in several areas, including leading and inspiring people.

The assessors say Thomas Westcott is the “employer of choice” for the “many long serving staff who stay with you and new recruits who are very impressed by your positive culture and practices.”

The report also commends Thomas Westcott for making people feel “trusted and empowered” and providing “really good encouragement and opportunities for development.” The firm is described as having “clear, strong and embedded values”, “good communication” and “effective management.”

Thomas Westcott Managing Partner Shona Godefroy said: “I am very proud that the firm has maintained its Investors in People status for 25 years. Our success depends on our staff being empowered and looked after and this has never been more important.

“During the pandemic, we have focused on maintaining excellent communication across our teams. We have also further developed our approach to flexible working, with many people now adopting a hybrid approach by combing working remotely with being based in our offices. We will continue to prioritise the wellbeing and professional development of people across the firm and our IIP accreditation is helping us to identify priorities for the future.”

Simon Irvin, Head of HR at Thomas Westcott, said: “Investors in People is based on a rigorous process of independent research and sets extremely high standards.

“We are delighted to not only have retained Silver, but to be one step closer to Gold, having improved across several areas. This is a really excellent result for the firm and reflects our commitment to nurturing all our colleagues and continuously improving our approach.

“I’m really proud of the way our leaders care for their team members looking after them personally and professionally.”

2021 marks Investors in People’s 30th anniversary year.
